Mostly glossy chocolate brown with lighter brown toning on the devices. Microscopic granularity covers the fields and protected areas while the highpoints are mostly smooth. No verdigris and the only planchet flaws are a small chip on the forehead, another on the bust, a small fissure on the rim right of the shoulder, and two tiny chips on the right side of the shield. Just a few small contact marks including a half dozen rim nicks on the obverse, mostly at the top. Intermediate die state with a vertical die crack bisecting the reverse, strongest left of the head of the seated figure. Struck slightly off center to the top. The first 7 in the date is blunted by the bisecting crack (as always) but the entire date is easily readable and the legends are complete. A decent example of this very rare variety. Weight 128.3 grains.
