Slightly glossy dark olive brown with light brown toning on the highpoints. Extremely fine granularity covers all but the highpoints of the devices. No notable verdigris and the only marks are a few light scratches on the jaw and cheek. Struck slightly off center to K-7.5 leaving the tops of several letters tight to or slightly off the edge of the planchet. The bottoms of the 1 & first 7 are off the planchet but the 8 & second 7 are complete. Not perfect but still one of the finest seen of this very rare variety. Clearly superior to the Perkins example and a variety that was missing from the Ford collection. The best Taylor example is poorly struck but technically sharper in some areas. Weight 130.1 grains.
