Glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Mostly smooth but there is microscopic chipping on the portrait with stronger chipping on the lower half of the seated figure. There is a small flake out of the planchet between the lower halves of the 8 & 7, a minor lamination that meanders from the rim through the L in LIB, and a horizontal chip in the center of the shield. Later die state with swelling in the field before the portrait, stronger swelling below the bust, and fine die cracks on both sides. Struck slightly off center to K-11 leaving the bottom of the date off the planchet but it remains easily readable and the legends are bold. A beautiful piece that certainly fits well into the condition census. And it comes with a nice provenance. Weight 144.4 grains.
