Glossy medium brown and light chocolate blending to darker chocolate brown in protected areas. The two-tone appearance accents the devices and the eye appeal of this piece is excellent. The surfaces are smooth, void of any notable planchet flaws. The only mark is a disjointed hairline scratch from the field from the nostril to the C in AUCTORI. Later die state with obvious swelling from the throat to the C, an internal cud break from the neck into the ends of the hair ribbon, and strong swelling at the top of the reverse. The lower part of the date is not visible (which is typical for the variety) but the legends are clear. Weight 138.8 grains.
