A “Gobrecht Head” variety. Frosty light to medium brown delicately woodgrained with darker steel brown toning. No marks or other defects, just very light friction on the highpoints of the devices. LDS with a rim cud at D-STA, and the cud break is strong. A great die state of a variety that is difficult to find in top grades. Our grade is EF45+, very close to AU50. The attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.

Ex McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 2/24/2003:264-Jack Wadlington (The Twin Leaf Collection), Stack’s Bowers 3/30/2016:10172 (includes the Wadlington collection notes and both lot tickets)
