Partly glossy mix of medium olive brown and lighter tan. The fields and protected areas show minor roughness and the surfaces are a bit uneven. Planchet striations before the neck have weakened AUCT but the remainder of the legends are easily readable (although the top of a few letters are off the planchet). Only traces of the date remain visible as most of it is off the planchet (as usual for this variety). The only notable contact mark is a fine diagonal scratch high on the neck. Struck with the reverse rotated 90 degrees clockwise, as usual for this die pairing. An acceptable example of the popular “Hercules Head” variety that is highlighted in the “Redbook.” Weight 139.4 grains.
