Double Struck Maris 77-dd Running Fox

Glossy light olive and steel brown. The surfaces are smooth and the only notable marks are a tiny pit on the neck of the horse and a few thin planchet fissures behind the horse’s head. The die state of this piece is very late and many of the devices are badly distorted due to die damage. In addition this piece was struck twice. The offset between impressions was small but the evidence is clearly visible on both sides, clearest at UNUM. The date and legends are easily readable and the “Running Fox” is clear. Weight 152.0 grains.
