An “Evasion Copper.” Very attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. The surfaces are smooth and this piece shows very little actual wear. Hints of mint frost show in protected areas on both sides. The surfaces and luster are consistent with a choice EF40 coin. The strike is typical with significant weakness in parts of the harp; hence the more conservative grade. The two stars (actually look more like fleurons) at either side of the bottom of the harp are clear. A very nice example of this popular Washington-themed evasion copper that has a separate listing in the “Redbook.” Weight 89.0 grains.
