Choice glossy light to medium brown. The surfaces are smooth and this piece is essentially flawless except for four short scratches in the field before the neck, two more in the hair right of the cheek, and a lighter one at the left hip of the seated figure. The obverse is nearly centered on the planchet; the reverse is off a bit to K-5 leaving all but the very top of the date off the planchet. Graded “Technically About Uncirculated” in the Perkins sale, but those scratches do catch your eye. The Dr. Hall/Miller attribution number is painted in white ink on the edge. Comes with a nice provenance. Weight 157.4 grains.
Ex Edward Hessberg, Stack’s 6/19/1991:1387-George C. Perkins, Stack’s 1/12/2000:282.
